Santtu-Matias Rouvali, Conductor
Seong-Jin Cho, Piano
Santtu-Matias Rouvali leads the Orchestra in Shostakovich’s final symphony, an optimistic work full of quotations from his own and others’ music, including humorous evocations of Rossini’s William Tell Overture. Seong-Jin Cho — “already one of the most admired pianists of his generation” (Bachtrack) — is the soloist in Prokofiev’s fiendishly virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 2.
