Hwang Gina's concert "Scene - Geomungo Universe" is a performance that expresses the dynamic elements of music with a single geomungo. The infinite range of appeal of the geomungo with its traditional technique and anomalous techniques for a new, modern sound are conveyed in all of its diversities.
Hwang Gina's music, which is often described to have a "descriptive voice," can also be seen in this work. Audiences are invited into a film-like musical landscape through a melodic unfolding of atmosphere and sound.
*The above program configuration may vary depending on the production situation.
◆ ARTIST
Geomungo soloist Hwang Gina has been interpreting Geomungo as a modern solo instrument since 2017.
Starting with the unique sound of geomungo, she expands the infinite possibilities of traditional music, crossing the boundaries of genres from post-rock, neo-classical, to techno.
Her second full-length album "Short Film" released in 2022, received many favorable reviews in Korea for its new interpretation of a solo geomungo sounds through expressive sound design and music production.
Hwang Gina: Scene - Geomungo Universe is co-presented by the Korean Cultural Center New York and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the ROK-U.S. Alliance.
