New York, NY - Korean Cultural Center New York, a branch of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) of the Republic of Korea, is pleased to present a one-of-a-kind exhibition, PASSION. CONNECTED. 100 X 100. in representation of the
The title of this exhibition, PASSION.CONNECTED. 100 X 100. includes the official slogan of the Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, “Passion. Connected.” as it “refers to a world in which everyone is connected with shared passion for winter sports — a world open to any generation anywhere and anytime, in order to open new horizons in the continued growth of winter sports” (from the PyeongChang 2018 official website).
In this exhibition, Gallery Korea showcases 100 winter sport helmets that have been artistically interpreted by 100 artists and designers to celebrate D-100 days until the start of the Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018.
Each of the participating artists created their own unique winter sport helmet artwork inspired by the officially designated Olympic keywords: harmony, people, passion, friendship, possibility, fairness, peace, advancement, movement, play, power, balance, joy, drama, challenge, and sports.
In addition to the 100 winter sport helmet artworks, the exhibition presents a special collection of works by D2 (“Designers 2nd Generation,” Korean American Fashion Association) fashion designers. The show features 10 looks inspired by the spirit of the Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games and their designated keywords.
With the opening of the Exhibition on November 1st, 2017, the online component of the show will also open at www.passion.koreanculture.org where all 100 helmet artworks and 10 fashion pieces will be on interactive display as well as detailed information on each of the participating artists.
“Representing spirit of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games with our key values of peace and unity, the PASSION. CONNECTED exhibition presents how artists have interpreted this in visually beautiful ways,” said Director Seung Je Oh of the Korean Cultural Center New York. “With over 100 artists from all different backgrounds being inspired by the Winter Games, we are able to see how art and culture can bring us a step closer to widening our horizons.”
Please visit us at 460 Park Avenue, 6th Floor, New York, NY 10022, Monday - Friday, 9 am -5 pm to view the exhibition. To learn more about the Korean Cultural Center New York, please visit: www.koreanculture.org
