A Musical Drama Production of Winter Journey

A young man's desperate soliloquy unfolds through Schubert's haunting melodies.

Klang Art Company’s Winterreise (premiered in 2019), composed by Schubert in 1828, was reborn with a bold and innovative production. Faithfully interpreting the original piece, this modern production reimagines the poetry, music, and structure with a contemporary directorial approach.

◆ SYNOPSIS

A lonely traveler, wounded by love and abandoned in despair, walks through a snow-covered plain, battered by the cold wind. His sorrowful journey paints a haunting portrait of isolation and rejection—one that may also reflect the loneliness of modern life.

The deep sense of darkness in Winterreise goes beyond heartbreak. It speaks to something more profound—the despair of those cast aside by society, left to face the shadows of life alone.

Through this production, we explore how this timeless work resonated with its original audience and what it means to us today.
